Colourists

Palette, weather, and time of day — the colourist’s shift on a Marvel NFT comic page, written for readers who notice rain going green-grey.

Colourists are still the most often swallowed credit on digital storefronts. A “art by” line can hide a full shift of flats, rendering, and special effects holds.

When we spotlight a colourist, we ask the reader to look at one night scene and one day scene in the same issue. We talk temperature, not “cinematic.” We notice whether a power glow blows out a face or sits politely behind a speech balloon.

Classroom groups use this board file before a reading-circle session so students have language besides “it looks cool.” Reading circle notes pick up from there.
